SemiPack was incorporated as a Florida Subchapter S Corporation in November of 2001.  In July of 2003, SemiPack expanded beyond its original St. Augustine facility into a new larger facility in nearby Jacksonville.  From our Jacksonville headquarters, we provide a a complete outsourced preparation and packaging solution to the electronics industry according to strict quality procedures and EIA specifications.

 

Our customers include original equipment manufacturers, electronic manufacturing services providers, contract assemblers and distributors.  Our clients include global Fortune 500 firms and major players within the industrial, automotive, medical, defense, aerospace, communications, and consumer industry.

Our People:

 

Ted Watson, CEO Emeritus.  The visionary behind SemiPack, Ted is an accomplished veteran of the electronics and plastic injection molding industry.  His substantial experience includes 16 years with GenCorp (NYSE:GY) in positions of increasing authority culminating as a high-level executive responsible for turnarounds in under-performing divisions, and several years with BF Goodrich (NYSE:GR) as a turnaround specialist.  In 1985, Ted along with Brian Watson formed Technical Sources & Resources (TSR), a manufacturer’s representative agency that sold rubber and injection molded plastics for several manufacturers including General Electric, Western Rubber, Allied Signal, and Goshen Industries.  Following several outstanding years, TSR was sold to a private investor group. Ted’s vast experience includes brokering a several million dollar deal to China’s Ningbo Province.

 

In 1996, Ted joined Acrotech Inc., a diverse manufacturing conglomerate with divisions across the United States.  Ted was part of the team responsible for the turnaround of Acrotech Plastics Group, which at the time Ted took over its sales and marketing which was losing a substantial amount month over month.    Under Ted’s leadership, within six months, the division had been realigned and was delivering substantial profits.

  

Teamed with his son, Brian Watson, Ted founded MBR, Inc., a recycler of packaging components.  MBR was sold to global powerhouse ITW (NYSE: ITW).  Ted also was President of Sourcing Solutions, Inc., a contract taper that reported a monthly volume of 8m parts in its peak months.  Ted has a remarkable history in the management, positioning, and growth of businesses and corporate divisions.  At SemPack, Ted is responsible for overall executive management, strategy, and sales.

  

Janet Watson, CEO.  As CEO of SemiPack, Janet is responsible for senior leadership and corporate governance.  Janet has over thirty five years experience in supporting Watson business ventures, and over twenty years experience in accounting and billing management.  Janet also is responsible for SemiPack’s billing and accounting management in conjunction with SemiPack’s certified public accountants.  It is also Janet’s charge to maintain SemiPack’s strict adherence to accepted financial reporting and record-keeping standards.

Janet has an Associates Degree in Business from FCCJ and a degree in Nursing.

 

Mary Watson Bloyd, President.   Mary, with a background in management of over 16 years, is a specialist in configuring operations for maximum productivity.  Mary’s management acumen resulted in a history of successfully turning under-performing locations into profitable leaders, and has had responsibility for units producing over $2.5m in annual sales.  Mary has managed organizational teams of over fifty members, with responsibility for top-line and net output of said groups.  At SemiPack, Mary is responsible for the management and product output of the production facility, ensuring SemiPack efficiently completes its preparation tasks according to stringent quality assurance methods and procedures, ensuring world-class client satisfaction.  Mary has completed advanced studies at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Slippery Rock University.

 

Brian C. Watson, COO.  Brian has an extensive background in the electronic component packaging industry.  He was a principal and founding member of MBR, Inc., where he lead the firms stellar growth and oversaw its sale to global conglomerate ITW.  Brian was the head of sales for TSR, Inc., which sold over $15m in goods annually for its representative firms, which included General Electric, Western Rubber, and Allied Signal.  Brian was President of Sourcing Solutions, Inc., where he again generated impressive results.  Brian headed SemiPack's establishment of the AATS joint venture, and was key in designing the proprietary mold used to manufacture its own carrier tape reels.  Brian is responsible for all operational aspects of SemiPack, including, but not limited to, purchasing, receiving, and shipping, and new projects.  Additionally, Brian is an accomplished saxophone player holding a Bachelor of Music Degree and a M.A., Music Performance from Penn State University.

 

Wilfred “Bill” Schmidt, Director of Engineering & Quality Control.  Bill is responsible for top-line management of SemiPack and Semipack Affiliated entities engineering and quality management protocols.  Bill adds tremendous value as he has over twenty years of meaningful experience in various engineering capacities within the electronics industry.  Bill’s vast experience includes being the Packaging Process Engineer with AVX Corps’ Vancouver Operations, which had a production of several hundred million parts per month.  Bill was lead engineer at the Vancouver facility on projects including laser marking of ceramic capacitors, camera inspection of components, and developing new systems for increased productivity and quality, among others.  Bill has experience in maintaining and modifying most types of packaging equipment, and has extensively trained personnel on the use and maintenance of the equipment.  Bill was the point man for AVX Vancouver’s ISO/QS certification and is leading SemiPack’s ISO 9001/QS9000 certification initiative.

Bill holds a B.S. Industrial Engineering from the University of Portland, an A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering from Portland Community College, and an A.A. Liberal Arts from Allen Hancock College.  Bill is a member if the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
